Job Description

A growing chemical manufacturer in Cincinnati is seeking an entry-level HSE Specialist to support and enhance its environmental, health, and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have up to 2 years of HSE/EHS experience (internships included), a relevant degree, and a strong understanding of regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, DOT). Previous exposure to the chemical industry is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote a culture of safety through awareness programs and engagement initiatives
  

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HSE regulations and site standards
  

• Prepare and submit regulatory documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  

• Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and shipments
  

• Conduct HSE training, audits, and coaching sessions to reinforce safe practices
  

• Support incident investigations using root cause analysis and corrective actions
  

• Participate in emergency response team activities
  

• Coordinate contractor safety and site-specific HSE programs
  

• Assist in risk assessments, PHAs, and safety committee meetings
  

• Serve as backup for the HSE Manager when needed
  

• Perform other duties as assigned
  

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, HSE, or related field
  

• Understanding of key regulatory frameworks (EPA, OSHA, DOT)
  

• Internships or hands-on experience in the chemical industry strongly preferred
  

• Familiarity with hazard recognition, behavioral safety, and JHA processes is a plus
  

• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
  

• Ability to work collaboratively and influence without direct authority
  

• Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional nights or weekends
