Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview: 
Responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education and training for hospital associates. 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • BSN degree
  • At least 3 years RN experience in telemetry or step-down/intermediate care
  • At least 5 years RN experience in acute care clinical services
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

  • MSN Education, Nursing and/or Health Related Field or post-master's certificate in education 
  • 2 years in professional development/education preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NJ
  • American Heart Association BLS provider required
  • American Heart Association ACLS provider required
  • Specialty nursing certification such as PCCN and/or Nursing Professional Development-Board Certified/NPD-BC preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full-Time
  • Day shift
  • 3 days per week (Mondays required, remaining 2 days will vary)
  • 13hr shifts
  • 7a - 8p 
  • 37.5 hours weekly

Essential Functions:

  • Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education
  • Develops, implements, and validates initial and ongoing competencies
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills through appropriate instructional methodologies
  • Applies principles of adult learning theory when conducting programs
  • Facilitates professional role development and practice role transitions
  • Educates and mentors nursing staff on quality improvement and evidence-based practice
  • Maintains simulation lab and equipment; provides simulation experiences and encourages use of simulation in educational programs
  • Analyzes issues, trends, and supporting data to determine the learning needs of individuals and departments
  • Represents Nursing Professional Development/NPD specialty in hospital-wide/system-wide committees and councils; disseminates information accordingly
  • Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously
  • Visible and accessible to clinical staff
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as delegated within NPD Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Role requires flexibility, adaptability, and independent prioritization of responsibilities
  • Travel throughout RWJBH possible
  • Position is focused on real-time clinical education
  • Primarily on units
